TV czarina Ekta Kapoor is slowly taking over the small screen with a bunch of new shows. Some of them have already been launched, while some are still at the pre-production stage. Among the newly launched shows, Dil Hi To Hai has created a huge buzz since it was announced. Earlier, rumour mills were abuzz that this family drama will be the TV version of Shah Rukh Khan's iconic movie, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. When everyone was excited, Ekta took to Twitter to clear the air and said that it is a simple family drama and not a remake of the movie. Though several hearts were broken, people couldn't wait to see the family drama. The show didn't stop making headlines after Ekta's tweet as Pyaar Ka Punchnama actor Omkar Kapoor backed out from the show at the last minute. Soon, Karan Kundrra was roped in and people couldn't wait to see him romance the newcomer Yogita Bihani onscreen. The show finally went on air recently and has started grabbing all the attention. But it seems all is not going well for the show. According to the reports of TOI, Karan's onscreen mother, Poonam Dhillon is bidding farewell to the show. While speculations were rife, Poonam has something to say.
Confirming the farewell news to an entertainment portal, the actress said, “I wasn’t happy with the way my track was shaping up. It was centred around the male lead’s love story and my character was just incidental, not meaty enough to excite me. After my last two TV experiences — 'Ek Nayi Pehchaan' and 'Kittie Party' — I was looking for central roles, which I thought this would be. I don’t mind putting in extra hours in a distant location, if the role is fulfilling. So, rather than wait for a few more weeks and create discomfort between the production house and me, I decided to quit immediately. The makers were considerate enough to accept my decision and we parted on an amicable note. I would like to work with them in the future with a strong character. I also have other commitments like my play, a film and some other responsibilities, which were suffering, too. I am looking forward to doing exciting work on TV, be it a soap or a talk show.” This is sad. But don't worry, Bollywood actress Rajeshwari Sachdev has already stepped into the shows of Poonam's character.
Speaking about this, Rajeshwari said, “I am sure Poonamji has valid reasons for quitting the show. I have shot just for a day and so far, the character seems interesting. I like the way the show is being shot and I am hopeful that the character will pan out well. TV shows, unlike films, don’t follow a bound script. Different tracks and characters are highlighted at various points to keep a show interesting. In addition, as I am not required to shoot daily, it allows me to focus on other projects as well.”
