Whattey fun day!
It’s been a year since I have been doing entertainment journalism. I have gotten chances to interact with some of the biggest names in the business right from Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone to Anil Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor. I would like to believe that I’m now somewhat confident when it comes to interviewing stars but the truth however, is far from it. I still get nervous and at times even am close to hyperventilating around the who’s who of B-town. Bollywood actors are usually friendly with journalists. It rarely happens that they throw tantrums or are difficult to handle. Most of them try to establish a personal connect with media people. There are however others, who make sure that the journalist, is comfortable and carefree when around them.
I saw this side to Vidya Balan, when I attended a junket in Goa. And yesterday, Dilwale stars Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon made me feel the same way. I got the opportunity to interview them at the Red Chillies office last evening and it definitely is an experience I would never forget!
I was seated on the sofa, waiting for Varun and Kriti to arrive so that I could start my interview. After a while, Varun entered and greeted all media persons and PR agents warmly, with a hug. He looked super cool dressed in a pair of denims, a printed tee and sneakers. He then came towards me, shook my hand and then asked me my name. I responded and he said, “Oh, I’ve been asked to be nice to you.” That comment made me smile and interestingly enough, Varun was more than nice to me throughout our interaction. While Varun and I waited for Kriti to arrive, I took the opportunity to show him the Manma Emotion dubsmash which we at BollywoodLife had made for Varun and Kriti. He saw it and said, “Damn nice.”
Soon after that Kriti arrived looking funky in a white and red embellished tee, denims and silver sneakers. The actress sported red lip colour and wore her hair in a sleek ponytail, looking trendy as usual.
Soon began our interview session. Varun and Kriti were their candid selves and even obliged to play a fun game of ‘Never Have I Ever’ with me. But the highlight of the evening was when the two agreed to do a Manma Emotion dubsmash with me!
After our interview, Varun and Kriti grabbed a quick snack and soon we three were taken to a separate room, to make the dubsmash video. That’s when I saw how grounded, cooperative and generous Varun can be. He took my hand and made me go though the Manma Emotion steps, one by one. He even encouraged me while I learnt, saying, “Very nice.” Honestly I was doing a shoddy job but it was nice of Varun to pep me up. Kriti soon joined us and she being a true sport, shot for the dubsmash video, despite the room being slightly cramped.
I eventually got the hang of it and thanks to Varun- Kriti’s cooperation and generosity, I and my team BollywoodLife managed to get an exclusive Manma Emotion dubsmash video with the two gen next stars of in the industry!
It was a fun day and I can’t stop showing off the dubsmash to all my close friends and family. I would like to thank Varun and Kriti for being uber cool and kind. Check out the video and tell us what you think about it in the comments section!
