Actress Payal Ghosh, who has levelled MeToo allegation against Anurag Kashyap, has questioned the delay in action against the filmmaker in the sexual harassment case. She alleged that it has been four months since she accused Kashyap of sexual misconduct but the Mumbai Police is yet to do their job. She even went on to say that would she have to die for the proceedings to begin.
"It's been 4 months and no action has been taken against #AnuragKashyap inspite of me providing evidence. Do I have to die to get the proccedings going?" Payal Ghosh tweeted. In a separate tweet, she wrote, "It's been a while and @mumbaipolice hasn't done it's best. An earnest request . It's a matter of women and we should be aware of what examples we are setting."
In September, Payal levelled sexual harassment charges against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap in 2013. She had claimed that Anurag Kashyap stripped off in front of her and tried to molest her. She also met Athawale, the Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment. At that time, Athawale tweeted extending support to the actress after the meeting, asking Mumbai Police to immediately arrest Anurag Kashyap.
"According to Payal Ghosh's arguments, Mumbai Police should arrest Anurag Kashyap. Otherwise we will protest soon," tweeted the politician. Touched by Athawale's gesture, Payal thanked him on the micro-blogging site. "Thank you @RamdasAthawale Sir for standing by me and supporting me," Payal tweeted along with pictures from the meeting at Athawale's office in Mumbai.
However, in his statement given to the Mumbai Police, Kashyap denied the allegation saying at that time, he was in Sri Lanka for a shoot and termed the allegations as an "absolute lie".
