Shah Rukh Khan, Mahima Chaudhry and Apurv Agnihotri's classic movie Pardes to be remade on television ?
If sources are to be believed then Ekta Kapoor's new show on Star Plus is going to be based on Subhash Ghai's hit film Pardes. Drashti Dhami, Shaleen Malhotra and Laksh Lalwani have been roped in to play the lead characters in the show. While Drashti will obviously essay the role of Mahima Chaudhry, Laksh will play Apurv Agnihotri's role and Shaleen Malhotra will play the lead role opposite Drashti.
Drashti was on a break post 'Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani' and will be back on the small screen with this show. News is that she has already been signed for the show. To be aired on Star Plus, the show is said to be based on Manju Kapur's novel 'The Immigrant' and is also loosely inspired by the film, Pardes.
A source associated with the project revealed, "Drashti will play Naina in the show. She will be shown averse to the idea of getting married because of her ailing mother. However, fate will have something else in store for her."
Shaleen Malhotra, who catapulted to fame as Arjun in the cop-drama Arjun, will play the male lead in this show. This show will mark his return to the fiction genre after three years. Actor Laksh Lalwani, who played the male lead in &TV's 'Adhuri Kahani Hamari' and was often in the news for the alleged animosity with his heroine Mahima Makwana, has been finalised to play the other male lead. A source closely associated with the project told a web portal, "Laksh will play a rich spoilt brat called Veer. His character will be on the lines of Apurva Agnihotri's in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Pardes'."
The initial few portions of the show in all probability will be shot in Austria in September. Actress Sangeeta Kapure, who was also seen in 'Devon Ke Dev... Mahadev', has been finalised to play Chanchal, while Alok Narula will play Rajiv and Ruhi Singh is Zenobia in the show.
