The television actor was earlier considered to play the female lead in Rohit Shetty's Singham 2
Shraddha Kapoor seems to be B-Town’s new favourite Kapoor. The Aashiqui 2 actor has replaced Kareena Kapoor Khan in not one but two projects. With two top heroes: Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn. While there were reports that Kareena was signed by her friend Shabina Khan’s production Gabbar, it is now clear that she will only be part of a special song, (like in Rowdy Rathore) while Shraddha is playing the main lead opposite Akshay. And now she is no longer part of Rohit Shetty’s Singham 2. Also Read - Ranbir Kapoor reveals Alia Bhatt is not his FIRST wife; shares the goofy story behind his first marriage
Fresh face
Bebo was keen to do this film and had even refused Zoya Akhtar’s film to accomodate it. She kept her dates free for the Singham sequel. While sources close to the actor say she chose to leave the film as it didn’t have a meaty enough role, rumours suggest that she was keen to be part of the film, and even Rohit wanted her, but Ajay wanted a fresh face. In the last two years, Devgn has been acting with heroines he hasn’t been paired with before — Kaajal Agarwal (Singham), Sonakshi Sinha, (Son Of Sardaar), Tamanna (Himmatwala) and the upcoming Action Jackson with Yaami Gautam. Bebo’s last film Satyagraha with Ajay didn’t work at the box-office which is also why he wants to romance a new heroine now. Apart from that, Kareena is also part of Rohit and Ajay’s Golmaal franchise, which will roll in 2015. Devgn felt he suddenly had too many films with the new Mrs Khan. So Shraddha was approached.
Pssst: Rohit wanted Kareena in Chennai Express too. But she had done RA.One with SRK who didn’t want to repeat the jodi, so Deepika was signed.
