The YRF venture released on February 27
Yash Raj Films' latest offering, Dum Laga Ke Haisha opened to a poor collection, despite the rave reviews the film has been garnering from critics and audiences alike. The film which stars Ayushmann Khuranna and debutant Bhumi Pednekar in the lead, is the story of two people tied in an unlikely matrimony who conclude that divorce is their only option. How they move from this conclusion to finally falling in love with each other is what makes up the rest of the story.
The film collected Rs 1.10 crore at the domestic box office on day one. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#DumLagaKeHaisha Fri ₹ 1.10 cr. India biz... Saturday morning shows better than Friday. Word of mouth is super-strong!" Day 2 collections of the film stand at Rs 2.09 crore totalling up to Rs 3.19 crore.
The prime factors affecting the film's collections are said to be the negligible promotions which led to low occupancy (15-20%) in the morning show and the limited number (789) of screens the film opened at. The movie is, however, expected to perform better on day 3 owing to the great reviews it garnered from critics and word of mouth.
