Oscars 2019 would have been a fun affair, had Dwayne The Rock Johnson had the time for it. This year’s Oscars will go down in the history of Academy Awards for being the first award show in 30 years to not have a host. The Academy had previously announced that Kevin Hart would be holding the mic and hosting the Oscars this year. However, he chose to step down as the Oscar host after homophobic tweets he wrote in the past resurfaced. Hart had apologised for the tweets. But now, the actor’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle co-star Johnson has taken to Twitter to reveal that he was the first choice to play the host of Oscars 2019.
The actor revealed he was approached to take the centre stage, but things did not work out because he was caught up with Jumanji 2. “Ah mahalo dude, I was their first choice to host this year, and my goal was to make it the most fun and entertaining Oscars ever. We all tried hard, but couldn’t make it work since I’m shooting ‘Jumanji.’ Academy and I were super bummed but maybe one day down the road,” he said.

Damn, Johnson! It would have been mind-blowing to watch you take over the Oscars stage. The Oscars would have been filled with some hilarious digs and that smoldering face that would have kept us glued to the television.
If not for Oscars 2019, Johnson’s smoldering look returns for Jumanji 2. The actor previously confirmed that a sequel to the 2017 hit movie is in the making. We also hear that Nick Jonas is reprising his role for the sequel. Apart from Jumanji 2, The Rock will be seen in the Fast and Furious spinoff Hobbs and Shaw. The trailer was released last week and it promises a fun ride.
