The show will be more on lines of Kaisi Ye Yaariyan that was produced by Vikas Gupta and starred actors like Parth Samthan, Niti Taylor and Zain Imam.
The show was supposed to make a comeback on & TV when Vikas Gupta was looking into the programming for the channel. But now it seems with the current scenario and to reach youth it's been made for web. So Vilas pitched this to his friend Ekta Kapoor who is presenting the show though her web venture ALT Balaji .
The original Hip Hip Hurray aired on Zee TV in 1998 and was on air till 2001. It was a popular TV series that the youth of that times connected well. The show was produced by Ronnie Screwala and was directed by Nupur Asthana. It starred Rushad Rana, Vishal Malhotra, Zafar Karachiwala, Shweta Salve, Piya Rai Chaudhary in main leads. It was also the launch of today's popular actors like Shabbir Ahluwalia, Purab Kohli, Suchitra Pillai, Vinay Pathak and Kishwer Merchant. The story was a story of teens of 12th standard from DeNobli High school and touched youth topics. The show is been regarded as a cult show as it had a fresh approach while it dealt with subjects like dating, drugs, careers and exams in a lighter way. It had ample amount of comedy, emotion and drama, which appealed to audience and even today has a nostalgic value.
Hope with changing times and with a fresh approach ALT Balaji's Class of 2017 also appeals to the viewers. Along with this show ALT Balaji is also launching another web show called Cybersquad.
