The much delayed film has now found itself in a legal soup...
Eros has filed a complaint at the producers body against filmmaker Sanjay Gupta. They say that the Shootout At Wadala director promised to cast Sanjay Dutt in his film Alibaug, but later on replaced him and cast Irrfan Khan. Now we all know that SD cannot shoot as he is finishing his jail term at the Yerwada jail, then why are the producers at Eros infuriated? Well....
Actually Eros had shown interest in the project just because it had Junior Dutt in the lead. They had also put in more money to make this production venture grander. They have no issues, however, with Irrfan Khan but they are now demanding Sanjay Gupta to pay back Rs 18 crore to Eros, which they say is the extra amount they had to paid to rope in Dutt for the film.
The Indian Film and Television Producers Council (IFTPC) are looking in to the matter and they have assured speedy justice in the matter as breech of agreement is involved. Also the film has been in the making since 2007 and hasn't been done yet. It was initially supposed to release in 2008 but nothing materialized.
At this rate, all we can hope for is that the film sees the light of the day.
