The Milap Zaveri directorial is facing a tough time getting clearance from the Censor Board
Sunny Leone’s upcoming adult comedy, Mastizaade, is facing a lot of censorship trouble because of its content. The film which is full of sexual innuendoes is deemed as a bit too much by the Censor Board.
The film, which was supposed to release in May, was delayed as the Board denied certification stating that the film contained too much sexual content. Apparently, one board member wanted to pass the film with an 'A' certificate but the others did not agree. The makers then sent the film to the Revision Committee but unfortunately, the committee too refused to certify citing bold content as the reason.
Producer Pritish Nandy, however, does not agree with the decision. Reportedly, Pahlaj Nihalani informed the I & B Ministry that the final decision was taken by RC member Nandini Sardesai and Nandy holds that if true, it is unfair as Sardesai wasn't present for either screening.
Contesting against the CBFC and RC's decision, Pritish has now sent the film to Film Certification Appellate Tribunal which will take the final call. For the uninitiated, the Appellate Tribunal works as a sort of film court where any applicant, who feels that the Board has passed an unfair judgement, can file an appeal to the Tribunal.
The fate of Mastizaade, which also stars Tusshar Kapoor and Vir Das, is now in the hands of the tribunal.
