Panipat released on December 6 and has not been able to do quite well at the box office. Even though it did not have a good run, some elements in the movie have been appreciated by the critics. Recently we had a chat with Sahil Salathia who played Shamsher Bahadur in the film. He has received a lot of positive response for his performance as Shamsher Bahadur in the movie. In an exclusive conversation with BollywoodLife, Sahil Salathia spoke about his journey with Ashutosh Gowariker from Everest to Panipat. He said, "Ashutosh Gowariker is one of the very few geniuses of the country. I think he is an original storyteller. We are literally living in a phase of Indian cinema where I don’t think we have got original scripts. I consider myself super privileged that he sees me as a part of his vision. Everest, my debut, was a TV series made by him in which I was the protagonist and now in Panipat, I play Shamsher Bahadur. I feel extremely privileged and honoured to be a part of his vision."
Sahil also spoke about his equation with Arjun Kapoor. "Arjun and I got along very well and I think he is superb. His personality is very positive. He is a very happy person and he is a clean-hearted person. It was an absolute pleasure to work with him and we got along well. This is why the chemistry between Sadashiv Rao and Shamsher Bahadur came good on screen. His honesty shows on screen." He also revealed he would want to work with Zoya Akhtar next. He shared, "My number one wish would be Zoya Akhtar. I think she presents the actors in a wonderful way. They are not actors on screen, they are characters and that’s what filmmaking has become about globally. So Zoya Akhtar would be a dream come true to work with. And even Sanjay Leela Bhansali would be a dream to work with but right now Zoya Akhtar would be my number one." When asked about the actress he wants to work with he said, "I love Kangana Ranaut and I can’t wait to work with her and I hope it happens soon. She is such a wonderful performer and she is such a good actor."

2019,the entire year was the year of living as •Shamsher Bahadur• for me. The ones who have seen our cinematic experience called Panipat already, hopefully, would agree and the ones who still haven’t,hopefully, shall agree if and when they see it. Living in a different era on-sceeen comes with it’s own set of challenges, authenticity being the highest on the list and requires so much more homework for an actor than a cinematic set up based outta today(that obviously comes with a different set of challenges). Shamsher Bahadur shall always be one of the closest to my heart when i put a full stop to my filmography. I didn’t intend to do this forever coz it’s taxing, toxic and takes a toll on you if you are the types to get yourself too involved and immerse immensely but at the same time, that is the ultimate beauty of being creative...Now,i am addicted! Couldn’t have been more privileged and HONOURED and of course, eternally grateful to be a part of The LEGENDARY Ashutosh Gowariker’s vision of Panipat and recreating Shamsher Bahadur on the 70mm for hindi cinema. This shall stay FOREVER!!!! ❤️ . . #2019 #ShamsherBahadur #AshutoshGowariker #Panipat #HindiCinema #IdontLikeTheTermBollywood #Movies #Magic #AndAllThat ❤️
Sahil also spoke about a funny memory while he was shooting for Panipat. He revealed, "The funny memory would be the horses and their moods. It’s like you give such a good shot and then suddenly Ashu sir would say no you have to do it again, the horses reacted in weird way. So shooting with the animals especially the horses was like a funny bit because they really get moody sometimes." We also had a chat about his upcoming projects and Sahil revealed he will very soon be seen on a very good platform with a crazy urban character which is very different from Shamsher Bahadur.
