BollywoodLife was the first to break the news of TV actor, Mohit Raina, making his digital debut. The Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev actor has been roped in for the biopic of UP-based IPS officer, Navniet Sekera. While Raina essays the real life Singham on screen, the one standing opposite him won’t be someone a la Jaykant Shikre. Instead, we’ve heard that his character’s nemesis is going to be a girl. A reliable source has given us an exclusive update about the project. Apparently, actress Bidita Bag has been signed in for the project. Bag is best known for her role in Babumoshai Bandookbaaz that had starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui. (Also Read: Exclusive! Mohit Raina to play IPS officer Navniet Sekera in his biopic)
Coming to Bag’s character, contrary to your assumptions, she is not paired opposite Raina as his love interest. Instead the actress will be seen standing against him. “Bidita won’t play an out-and-out negative character. However, it will be a grey character and a major catalyst in the story,” the source reveals.
Despite repeated attempts, we couldn’t connect with Bidita for her comments.
Currently, the project, which is tentatively titled Bhaukaal, is being filmed in the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow. Just like Raina, this will be Bag’s digital debut as well.
Talking about the story, Navniet Sekera is an UP-based IPS officer and is known to be a real-life Singham. He is the man credited for the eradication of gangsters and mafia from Uttar Pradesh. With almost 60 executions to his credit, he is known as the execution specialist of the state. Bhaukaal is Applause Entertainment’s original. The series is directed by Jatin Wagle, who has directed Marathi movies like Manjha.
