Lady Superstar Nayanthara's next untitled psychological thriller with director Arivazhagan will take longer than expected to start rolling. PVP Cinema, which was initially reported to fund the project, has backed out at the last minute due to creative differences with Arivazhagan. "Nayanthara loved the script so much when Arivazhagan narrated it. So, she has promised him now that she will find a proper producer who will respect his creative freedom. That's why the project has still not kicked off. The hunt for the right producer is currently underway," a source privy to the development informs BollywoodLife exclusively.
Earlier, Malayalam actress Manju Warrier was reported to play the lead role before the team zeroed in on Nayanthara. After the women-centric social drama Aramm's success at the box office, Nayanthara's market has seen an impressive turnaround with the digital and satellite rights for the film collecting on par with the theatrical revenue. Arivazhagan had earlier said that he wants to explore the psychological thriller genre after making his debut through a horror thriller (Eeram) followed by a sports drama in Vallinam and then the investigative thriller Aarathu Sinam starring Arulnidhi and lastly, the investigative medical thriller Kuttram 23 which featured Arun Vijay in the lead role. KM Baskaran will handle the cinematography for Arivazhagan's next with Nayanthara and Thaman, his regular collaborator, will score the music. Nayanthara ended 2017 on a high note with Sivakarthikeyan's Velaikkaran and director Gopi Nainar's Aramm, which won her a lot of accolades including the Best Actress award from Vikatan Awards.
