After featuring in Akshay Kumar-led Gold, actress Nikita Dutta will soon share screen space with Shahid Kapoor in Kabir Singh. Dutta plays Jia Sharma, an actress who falls in love with Shahid's character, Kabir Singh. Although Dutta isn't headlining the movie, she is content with playing a prominent character in the narrative. "The experience has been a short and sweet one. I was on bed rest because of a fracture for about three months and then Kabir Singh happened immediately after that. So it was good to get back to work after a break," Nikita revealed while talking to us exclusively.
Nikita also added that the film’s director Sandeep Vanga's vision to make a scene better is something that left her awestruck. Meanwhile, the film's lead Shahid's interactive personality made her feel comfortable on her first day of shoot. When we asked her to share her experience of working with Kiara Advani, she exclaimed, "Didn’t get a chance!" With no feelings of insecurity, Nikita added that she was well aware of her character’s length in the film, “As a person, I don’t feel insecure about most things in life. From relationships, friendships to work, I am quite at peace in my head.”
The 26-year-old has always played lead roles on the small screen, but in Bollywood, she has mostly done supporting roles. "I have stopped looking at roles as lead or parallel lead. Also, I feel these are very misleading terms. My focus stays on doing good films with notable characters." Interestingly, Nikita’s co-star from Gold, Mouni Roy has also successfully transitioned from TV to film. Praising her contemporary, Nikita said, “Mouni has been in the industry now for a long time and her list of work is long and commendable. She has made some good professional choices.”
Nikita was rumoured to be a participant in the glass-walled house of Bigg Boss, so we questioned her about taking up reality shows and the actress said, "They do garner a lot of audiences and are great for entertainment. I would love to be a part of a dance show but haven’t thought about a show like Bigg Boss yet. Though I always say, “never say never”!"
While things are going great for Nikita on the professional front, on the personal front she is enjoying her life without a partner, “I am in a good space with work and singledom as of now,” concluded Nikita.
