Critically acclaimed filmmaker Faraz Ansari's feature movie debut revolves around a middle-aged Parsi woman and her tryst with gender crisis. Ansari has roped in Shweta Tripathi to play the lead in the project titled Sabr. BollywoodLife has got the latest update from the project that is in the making. Acclaimed actress Shernaz Patel, who is best known for her performance in 2005's Black, has been roped in to play a prominent character. Patel will play Tripathi's on-screen mother, who will be Parsi. The actress is one of the early ones to have been signed after Shweta. Film director Ansari has confirmed the same. “I am beyond thrilled that I’ll be directing a legend like Shernaz Patel for Sabr, my first feature film. I’ve grown up watching her in films and on stage and have always been a huge admirer of her effortless power on the medium. Shernaz and I share a level of comfort that makes it easier for me, as a director. She is also immensely nurturing which is something I deeply admire about her,” the director gushed. As we had earlier reported, Ansari is still struggling to find an actor who can play the primary trans character. Veterans like Naseeruddin Shah, Rajat Kapur and Boman Irani have already declined the role. However, on the bright side, the filmmaker is trying to get on board Amitabh Bachchan. No, not for the character in contention, but for another pivotal character. Ansari wants to cast Shahenshah to reach out to a wider audience that will help spread the message. Ansari, whose silent short film Sisak, recently won accolades in China, said "I think it is every Indian filmmaker’s dream to work with Mr Bachchan because he truly unites India and Indians. His mastery and prowess as an actor, his humility behind the cameras and his true power and influence to truly bring in a positive change in our hearts and society are the reasons I would be honoured to have him do a very, special guest appearance in Sabr. The character, though in just a few scenes through the film, is perhaps the most unforgettable character of Sabr and someone the audience will take back home with, to remember on rainy days and starry nights, just the way one remembers our first love. Once I have the cast of Sabr locked, I will be approaching Mr Bachchan. Fingers crossed.”

Well, let's see if the actor gives his nod for the project. If he does, this will be a historic moment as a renowned name like him will be a part of a LGBT film for the first time in Indian cinema.
