He is nothing lesser than a boy wonder of sorts- the first look I had of him left me awestruck and am sure you will feel the same if you’ve caught the promos of the his new show on Colors
I got in touch with Siddharth Nigam, the young prodigy on the sets of Chakravartin Samrat Ashoka and was truly amazed to see his chiselled body, the focus on his performance when he gets the cue, his simple language and down to earth behaviour and so much more. Well I don’t know about you, but he has definitely got a fan in me. Read excerpts from the short interview…
What made you take up the role of Samrat Ashoka?
I was sitting at home when I saw the first promo Samrat Ashok, which gave me goose bumps. I was excited about the show; two days later I got a call for the audition. I came, performed and guess they liked my stance and look for the show and brought me on board.
The usual trend is to go from TV to Film, but you changed that. So what is your plan ahead - more movies or you intend to stick to television?
I am still a kid, so there's a long time to decide that. It's not a big thing to jump from movies to television; I enjoy doing both and will continue so. I believe you should experience everything in life.
Now that you’ve done both movies and TV, which medium is more challenging?
In Television, there's more work to do because it's a daily soap. Sometimes I have to shoot for ten hours straight. In movies, there's a schedule that you follow for certain period of days. Yes television is hectic, but I love it.
Dhoom 3, Mahakumbh, Ashoka have made you a star. Has your life changed drastically?
When I didn’t have any of these roles, I lived in a hostel, woke up early for gymnastic practices, ate, studied and slept. Now that I am in the field I’ve made a lot of changes in my life.
With so much on your plate how are you giving any time and energy to gymnastics?
Right now Ashoka is just about to start so the work load is more, but I manage. I have already given them my schedule for gymnastics, so it is easy to manage and the production house understands my priorities. I want to get a Gold medal for my country at the Olympics.
How is the bond between you and your onscreen mother?
The relationship is great. Now I have a real and reel mother. Pallavi (Subhash) mam takes care of me like her own child. In fact, when I get injured on the sets, she is the first one to come running with a first aid box.
