Enough has been said about Kangana Ranaut taking over the reins of Manikarnika as a director from Krish, halfway through the film. It created a huge ruckus with many actors walking out. When we met up with Kangana to talk all things Rani Lakshmibai, we asked her if she feels that when an actor puts across his opinion, he is revered but when it's an actress, it's termed as interference. Kangana's response makes us believe Bollywood still has a long way to go to be gender neutral.

Speaking about the many exits from the film at the time when the news about Kangana taking over the film had hit the marquee, the actress said, "They blatantly refused to work with me and called me incompetent as a director. But they have not been on my set. They did not have a meeting with me. So how do they know I am incompetent as a director and left the film on the basis of my incompetence. That's a perception that ye ladki kya kar legi. What else is it?"
