The next best choice is the talented Kunal Karan Kapoor
Biopics on rulers seem to be a hit with TV producers. We have seen shows made on the lives of Prithviraj Chauhan, Maharana Pratap, Shivaji and most recently, the Mauryan emperor Ashoka. Now, the news is a show will be made of the life of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The legendary ruler of the Sikhs, Ranjit Singh was famous as a valiant ruler, a secularist, a great administrator and philanthropist. It is indeed a role any actor would love to portray.
The handsome hunk Barun Sobti was voted as the best choice to play the role. While it might surprise some considering that he is known best as the arrogant tycoon Arnav Singh Raizada from Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, there is no denying that he fits the bill of the ruler. He is tall, lean with aquiline features that match those of the king. Plus, he can speak Punjabi fluently. It will be a treat for Barun’s fans in India and abroad to see him in a biopic.
Na Bole Tumne Maine Kuch Kaha’s Kunal Karan Kapoor was the second best choice. Fans of the cute actor are dying to see him back on screen. It has been almost two years after the hit show. He did a stint on Doli Armaanon Ki but it was too short. Kunal is hailed as one of the best actors of the industry. Even if he does not match the looks of the great emperor, he can surely infuse great life into his character.
Iqbal Khan took the third spot in the poll. The actor boasts of a superb personality and his Punjabi is pretty decent. We saw him as a Sikh farmer in Waaris and he was damn impactful.
The biopic on Maharaja Ranjit Singh is one we are looking forward to because not much of his life has been translated on celluloid so far. Do you agree with the choices our readers have made? Let us know with your comments…
