Veteran actor Om Puri is the latest celeb to have expressed his views on the ban of Pakistani actors. In a live TV interview last night Om Puri went on to make some shocking statements that haven't gone down well with a lot of people. On being asked about the Uri attacks and whether India should entertain Pakistani actors anymore, he said, ”Who had asked the soldiers to join the army? Who told them to pick the weapons?”. His insensitive comments have not only drawn him flak on social media but have landed him in trouble. An FIR has been lodged against Om Puri, says a SpotBoyE report. The FIR has been filed today against the actor by an organization called 'Sangharsh' which fights against injustice., states the report. FIR has been filed at Andheri(East) Police station.
“Prepare 15-20 people as suicide bombers and send them to Pakistan,” Om Puri commented further. His statements have infuriated everyone on social media including actor Anupam Kher and TV actor Karan Patel. "Dear #OmPuri ji. Mai aapki bahut izzat karta hoon. Lekin kal tv per desh ke sainik ke baare mein aapki baat sunkar bahut DUKH hua. #VerySad," tweeted an upset Anupam Kher. Speaking on the recent surgical strikes carried by our Indian army, the actor said, “When the government is taking an action, we all should stay quiet. It hardly matters if we send back the artists from Pakistan, who are working here, or let them stay. I have been to Pakistan six times and have met people from all strata.I have always received love and warmth. If the Pakistani actors leave the projects they are doing here in middle, then people in India (filmmakers) will also face financial loss.”
From Salman Khan, Kangana Ranaut to Mahesh Bhatt and Madhur Bhandarkar; everyone from Bollywood has been expressing strong views on the ongoing debate. While Salman Khan opposed the ban on Pakistani actors, saying they are artistes not terrorists, actor Randeep Hooda, filmmakers Ashoke Pandit, Anupam Kher are among those who have backed the ban. Hooda tweeted that Pakistan should be culturally isolated. “We are trying to isolate Pakistan economically & diplomatically so the cultural isolation must follow #BanPakArtists #IndiaComesFirst #India.” What are your views on Om uri's comments?
