Oh, boy is Vicky Kaushal on a roll! If you haven't noticed yet, Vicky is the new blue-eyed boy of Bollywood, thanks to the thundering success of Raazi, Sanju and Uri: The Surgical Strike. He has even bagged multiple projects and in a short span of 4 years, he has entered the league of A-listers. If we look at the slate of his upcoming films including The Vanishing Act, Udham Singh and Takht, it seems like he is set to shatter all the records at the ticket windows again. Not just that, recently the poster of his horror film Bhoot: Bhoot: Part One - The Haunted Ship was released and the actor has been upping expectations and how.
In fact, just when we thought it couldn't get any better, Vicky is out and about with another interesting project with none other than Meghna Gulzar. That's right, according to Mumbai Mirror, he is reuniting with his Raazi director for a film on the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw which will be bankrolled by Ronnie Screwvala. Meghna opened up about the same and told the daily, "We wanted to finish the edit on the draft first before reaching out to an actor. One day, I just called up Vicky, who happened to be nearby and invited him over for a cold coffee. We had a conversation about Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. He was about to fly to the US and said that he doesn’t want to read the script and would just do the film. But I insisted that he read it and call me."

The filmmaker also revealed that she had shared stories about Manekshaw with Vicky during the shooting of Raazi. "And he remembers them. Ours is not a biopic, because it does not chronologically just record Sam Manekshaw’s life. We need to make an interesting narrative when telling a story by picking out the most crucial, iconic and relevant incidents of his life, giving a view of the soldier, the man, and the Field Marshal. We will start shooting in 2021, which is good for all of us because it needs that much prep time as we have the Partition, accession of Kashmir, and the 1971 Indo-Pak war to cover in the narrative," she concluded informing that her script is penned by Bhavani Iyer (Raazi) and Shantanu Srivastava (Badhaai Ho).
It is being reported that Vicky will prep for the character by meeting people who have known Manekshaw closely, besides reading up on him and watching his videos to get the mannerisms right. He even spoke about his early impressions of the Field Marshal and stated, "I personally couldn’t witness his achievements, but my parents would always tell me that he was a fearless patriot with an amazing leadership quality. The first time I’d heard of him was in the context of the 1971 Indo-Pak war."
