Born on 17 April, 1979, in a Tamil speaking household, Siddharth knew that he wanted to have a career in films since childhood. On insistence of his father's friend, 9 year old Siddharth dubbed for a mosquito repellent ad. Later, he joined business school in Mumbai, which he later revealed that it was just a safety cushion in case things didn't work out in films.
Siddharth started his filmi career by assisting Mani Ratnam in Kannathil Muthamittal, in which he has his first screen appearance too as an uncredited bus passenger. Later he landed upon Shankar's coming of age film Boys, as a lead along with Genelia D'Souza. After impressing one and all with his acting chops, he also did Mani Ratnam's critically acclaimed Ayutha Ezhuthu post which he made it big in Telugu cinema with films like Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana and Bommarillu. He made his mark in Hindi cinema with an important role along side Aamir Khan in Rang De Basanti. After establishing himself as bankable star in Tollywood, Siddharth has made a stunning comeback to Tamil films with 5 back to back hit films.
