Earlier today, Akshay Kumar's tweet sent the internet into a frenzy. The actor's social media post triggered speculations that the actor is planning to contest the elections this year. "Getting into an unknown and uncharted territory today. Doing something I have never done before. Excited and nervous both. Stay tuned for updates," he had shared. Little did the actor know, his tweet would soon trigger speculations about him being a part of the upcoming General Elections. Internet users wouldn't stop asking Akshay about the same. Due to a lot of queries pouring in, the Khiladi Kumar finally decided to clear the air.
Taking to his Twitter account, Akki made it clear that he is not contesting the elections. "Grateful for all the interest shown in my previous tweet but just clarifying in light of some wild speculation, I am not contesting elections," the actor wrote.

Last month, Akshay Kumar was among the list of celebrities whom PM Narendra Modi had urged to bring more people to vote in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. He had responded to the PM saying, "Well said @narendramodi ji. The true hallmark of a democracy lies in people's participation in the electoral process. Voting has to be a superhit prem katha between our nation and its voters."
On the work front, Akki will be next seen in Mission Mangal. The film is based on the story of Indian Space Research Organisations' scientists, who contributed to the Mars Orbiter Mission, that marked India's first interplanetary expedition. Directed by Jagan Shakti, the movie also features Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Sharman Joshi and Sonakshi Sinha in pivotal roles.
Besides that, Akki has Raj Mehta's directorial Good News with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani. The actor is also reuniting with Katrina Kaif after a hiatus of nine years for Rohit Shetty's cop drama Sooryavanshi, which releases during Eid 2020.
