For Bollywood, this Diwali is certainly going to light up the box office. Two different movies are battling out in the theatres now, and both have in them to be joint winners. Aamir Khan's Secret Superstar and Ajay Devgn's Golmaal Again have the potential to be top grossers of the year, even though they are competing with each other. While the Aamir Khan movie is superior when it comes to content and performances, Ajay Devgn's flick makes up for that with sheer fun and entertainment. For this feature, let's talk about Golmaal Again and what will make it a hit with the audience. Of course, you know that answer for that - the jokes! And thankfully, Golmaal Again has plenty of that.
Sure, the movie may not be as fun as the first Golmaal entry (in 2006), or lacks that memorable flashback scene (featuring Mithun Chakraborthy, Ratna Pathak Shah and Prem Chopra), but director Rohit Shetty delivers loads of gags, many of which will leave you in splits. Particularly these five gags that will definitely not fail to tickle your funny bone! Needless to say, SPOILERS AHEAD... tread with caution!
The entire Nana Patekar running gag
The spirit in the movie is a huge Nana Patekar fan, and when it comes to possessing certain cast members in the movie...well, don't want to describe this gag for you, so as not to spoil the fun. It might be quite unnecessary a track in the movie, but nevertheless, manages to elicit chuckles every time it raises its head, especially when Tusshar Kapoor gets possessed. The icing on the cake is when the actor comes on screen in a surprising (but senseless) cameo.
Laxman's lori for Gopal
Ajay Devgn's Gopal may have no qualms in breaking fingers and bones of goons but he is quite a scaredy cat when it comes to ghosts and darkness. So his lisping BFF Laxman (Shreyas Talpade) has to put him to sleep with his own version of 'Yashoda ka Nandlala'. You won't stop smiling every time you hear Talpade sing 'Zhu zhu zhu zhooo'.
Johnny Lever's Baahubali trance
Like Golmaal 3, here too, Johnny Lever's character, Pappi, has the habit of going into a forgetful trance and talking nonsensical, regardless of what the situation. And the entire gag is just damn amusing, especially when he gets into Baahubali mode.
The trolling of Ajay-Parineeti pairing
Many people poke fun at how older heroes in Bollywood often romance the much younger heroines. Golmaal Again tried to portray Ajay Devgn-Parineeti Chopra's pairing in such a light, but Arshad and gang never fail to take digs at this. The best bit comes with the interval revelation that shows how creepy the pairing was the whole time.
The aftermath of the interval 'twist'
The interval 'twist' was quite obvious and predictable especially seeing how one of the main characters was introduced in the movie. But the repercussions of that revelation give ample scope for enough laughs. After all, it brings the Golmaal gang along with the ever-excellent Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra and Mukesh Tiwari under one roof.
