Anjana Sukhani who will soon be seen in Akshay Kumar-Kareena Kapoor starrer, Good Newwz, opened up in a recent interview about being clinically depressed. The actress, who was a part of star-studded movies like Nikkhil Advani’s Salaam-E-Ishq in 2007 and Rohit Shetty's Golmaal Returns in 2008, had almost faded into oblivion. She was last seen on the screens in Sunil Grover's satirical comedy, Coffee with D, which released in 2017. The actress slipped into depression post two unfortunate demises of her aunt and maternal grandmother. "My maasi was not married, so I was with her in the hospital all the time, including during the chemotherapy sessions. The pain and suffering she went through in that one year changed a lot of things in me," Anjana revealed in an interview with Mirror.
This affected her work drastically and Anjana soon found herself battling depression. However, she had no idea of the same until she spoke to her brother. Talking about it, Anjana said, "I kept telling him that some days I felt lost and hated speaking to anyone even on the phone when I was in this dark place, while on other days I was my usual bubbly self. That’s when he suggested that I seek professional help."
As per the daily, Anjana then met a therapist, who made her go through a series of tests, including answering a questionnaire of 180 questions. Spilling more deets on the same, Anjana said, "They were different situations and I had to react to them. After the results were analysed, they concluded I wasn’t just low but depressed. On the first day, I don’t think my therapist even spoke a word; all I remember is blurting out my feelings in tears. Sometimes, it’s easier to confide in strangers who won’t judge you. The treatment went on for four months and though once in a while, I still have a low day, but I am mostly happy now."
Anjana is now back in action and after playing Kumar's sister in the multi-starrer, she will also be seen in the John Abraham-Emraan Hashmi starrer, Mumbai Saga. Stay tuned to BollywoodLife for more news and updates.
