Govinda's personal life has gone for a toll. After the failure of his latest film, another problem has come knocking at his door. Quite literally. The actor had some pissed off Service Tax Department officers at his door asking him about tax evasions. And the amount they suspected foul play with is not a small one, but Rs 60 lakh.
First, the department had suspected that Govinda has evaded tax payment. They sent him a summon and asked him to appear before them. When he failed to do so, officials visited him at his home. When he was not found there they went to talk to him at his Juhu office. Though they only recorded his statement, it has been reported that the questioning went on for a whole of 6 hours. That is a tad too serious. Don't you think?
After 6 hours of questioning, there are chances that Govinda might face legal action. The reason is that the officials checked last 5 years of his balance sheets, and found that it shows income of Rs 5 crore. He has been asked to pay the tax within the next few weeks or he will face charges.
Unfortunately for Govinda, this gets worse for Govinda. Reportedly, Govinda is in no condition to pay Rs 60 lakh anytime soon. He has requested many officials to help him out, pleaded them to reduce the amount. But all has fallen deaf ears.
A leading daily reported that their sources told them Govinda service tax along with his fee. He went on a few TV shows and did a few movies and commercials over the duration of past three years. Technically, he should have transferred the service tax to the government, but the actor did not. For reasons best known to him only. We have to see what happens next in this case.
Govinda was last seen in Aa Gaya Hero. The movie, despite big claims, failed to do good business at the box office. It garnered mostly negative reviews from the critics.
