Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali turns 48 today. The multi-talented personality, who writes, edits and directs films has garnered his own fanbase due to his modern style of narratives which easily connects with the current generation. Not many would know that he is also a good actor and has played a cameo in Anurag Kashyap's neo-noir drama, Black Friday. Imtiaz portrayed the character of Tiger Memon's brother, Yakub in this controversial film. Talking about his films, Imtiaz Ali believes in exploring new locales and scenic beauties and train sequences always play a crucial role in his films. But above all, his story focuses on self-discovery and living life with full zest. On his birthday, let's check out his three films which showcase his modern-day story-telling of classic love stories.
Jab We Met
The coming-of-age love story, Jab We Met is easily one of his finest works till date. Apart from giving us the memorable character of Geet and her dialogue, "Main apni favourite hoon," the rom-com showed that two very different people with a completely different approach towards life can be the best of couples and soulmates.
Love Aaj Kal
Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone-starrer Love Aaj Kal perfectly showcased the complexities in modern-day relationships, which is bounded by practicality and ambitions and the essence of old love stories which had innocence and sacrifice. Imtiaz blended the tales in his trademark style and delivered a different love story, which struck a chord with the audience.
While many didn't connect to Deepika and Ranbir-starrer Tamasha, this love story was the among the first few films that talked about the discovery of an individual and how his or her partner can beautify their life by helping them achieve their dreams.
