After OK Jaanu and Half Girlfriend, Shraddha Kapoor returns in the most unusual movie of her career, Haseena Parkar. It is based on the life of the late Haseena Parkar, the notorious underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's sister who handled her brother's illegal operations in Mumbai when he went into hiding. Shraddha Kapoor plays the lead and the titular role in the movie, which is directed by Apoorva Lakhia, who has made another gangster drama Shootout at Lokhandwala, that was also based on a real life incident.
We had seen the teaser a few weeks back, that showed glimpses of the movie, with only one proper reveal of Shraddha Kapoor as the female don. Now the trailer is here, and it gives us a better reveal of Shraddha Kapoor as Haseena. We get to see her at her various stages of her life. So we see Haseena has a teenage girl, a dutiful wife, a bereaved widow and a respected figure. Then there is her real-life sibling Siddhant Kapoor who plays Dawood Ibrahim, and he looks the part. Though the trailer doesn't play his part much, his presence is there overall like how it was in real life as well. Another thing positive to be taken out from the trailer is Amar Mohile's fantastic background score.
Here's the trailer...
Speaking to IANS, Shraddha had said, "I think it’s one of most different roles of my career so far for sure because I think I have played more positive characters, and this is first character which is more grey shaded. I hope people can see (my) conscious effort of playing something different. I just wanted to do something different. I felt like I wanted to venture into new kinds of films, and be a part of different kind of characters. That’s why I decided to be a part of films like ‘Haseena’ and the Saina Nehwal biopic."
