The ace filmmaker has managed to get these two legends in the same film
R Balki has been a lucky man. His filmmaking career has seen the best of Indian cinema come together and collaborate to produce a gem of a movie. Whether it was Cheeni Kum or Paa, there have been superstars like Amitabh Bachchan and Ilayaraja backing Balki. However, Balki is much younger to the film industry in comparison to these two veterans. We wonder as to how it would be when these two cinema legends came in one room for shooting Balki's film.
While speaking to a leading daily Balki promptly replies "They were like two excited school children. I consider myself very lucky. I think there are only two human institutions in the Indian entertainment world. One is Amitji and the other is Raja Sir. And I've worked with both in all my three feature films so far. They are exactly the same age, 73. And they were like two excited children in the recording room running riot in a toy shop. Their level of enthusiasm and passion to excel made me feel very old. They both admire one another's works tremendously. Amitji who has sung songs for many composers (Rajesh Roshan, Shiv-Hari, Aadesh Shrivastava, R D Burman, Kalyanji-Anandji) says singing for Raja Sir was a dream come true. Amitji remembers each and every song that Raja Sir has composed in Hindi cinema. Amitji says that what Ilayaraja does to cinema is not just add music. He lends an added dimension to the plot."
Having seen these two veterans since so many years, one wonders as to how they remain so humble and down to earth.
