The makers of the show was apparently not happy with the anchor format...
Bipasha Basu won’t be hosting the second season of Darr Sabko Lagta Hai. It is being reported that the actress quit the show; but buzz is, Tigmanshu Dhulia (the creator for the second season) wanted her out. He didn’t like the anchor format and wanted to focus on chills and thrills.
Bips clears the air. “When I was offered the show, I did not want to do it as the show was new and I wanted to be sure about what my role was before I said yes. Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK were the conceptualisers then and for the second season, the conceptualisation is Tigmanshu’s and there is no host.”
Was it creatively satisfying? She says, “Whoever has seen the show thought I’d be used more, but my deal was eight days work only for 13 weekend episodes which later they decided to double to 26 episodes. I knew it was a lot to achieve in such a little time so they used me as a host to the best of our capacity with the time constraint. But the show was promoted on the basis of my name in the supernatural genre. The feedback I got was that people wanted to see me more active in the show but that was never my deal. You take time to figure new shows.”
So what now? “I look forward to doing conventional TV shows which are already established where my role will be very clear.” Is she open to daily soaps? She shoots back, “Yes, but only if it’s something like the legal-political drama, The Good Wife and the character is like Alicia Florrick. If anyone makes it as good as that, I am on! I am keen to do reality entertainment shows (dance, games, chat) — anything that catches my fancy. I am a people’s person, women love me, so something with thought, humour and lots of entertainment would excite me.”
