We would like to start off by thanking Chris Evans for playing with our emotions. As though Marvel Studios and the Russo Brothers aren’t doing that enough lately, you joining the bandwagon isn’t helping. Our hearts swell up even with the thought that we will not see Captain America on the big screen post Avengers: Endgame. Captain America star Chris Evans set off the alarms about Steve Rogers’ exit when he took to Twitter and announced that he has hung up his shield. He confirmed that he was done playing the Capt in Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ever since, speculations have been high that Captain America will die in the events of Endgame. As though these theories are not giving us enough sleepless nights, Evans recently joked that Captain America would die at the hands of Iron Man.
The last time these two superheroes faced each other was in Captain America: Civil War. The two waged war against each other over Bucky. In Avengers: Infinity War, Tony Stark and Steve Rogers were on two different planets. But the Avengers: Endgame trailer assures that Iron Man and Captain America will meet, and the former will follow the latter’s lead. However, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Chris decided to troll fans by joking that Steve will die at the hands of Tony.
He starts off by stating that he watched the first hour of Avengers: Endgame. “It's a real good one. I saw, like, the first hour of it,” he said. “So you watched it up to the point where Cap dies?,” THR teased. "Right, exactly," Evans replied. "After I die by Tony's hand, I just said, You know what? I can't watch this,” he joked.
“I should make it clear that this is a joke, even if it feels like the kind of joke that could turn out to be true. I can't believe they even cut together a trailer because so much of it is a visual spoiler. You'll see. A lot of the characters have" he stopped, covering his mouth. “Probably shouldn't have even said that," he added.
Dear Chris, we understand you are playing along the whole Iron Man vs Captain America trick but you have ripped our hearts apart with your joke. While we picture you and Tony bromancing in our dreams, you have just put an imagination of him killing you in our heads. Ugh! Why would you make us go through so much pain? Were the events of Infinity War not enough? Watching Loki die wasn’t torturous enough? Standing witness to Thanos pushing Gamora for the soul stone wasn’t hurting enough? Why would you do this to us?
Anyway, we’ll know if Captain America dies (or lives) in Avengers: Endgame on April 26.
