The hockey legend's son is seeking answers from the filmmaker....
Sports as a genre hasn't been able to make a mark in Bollywood much. Apart from sporadic Chak De India, Paan Singh Tomar and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, not many managed to make a mark. But BMB's super success instilled a faith in filmmakers that such films will work. One of these filmmakers was Karan Johar who declared that he is making a biopic on Indian hockey legend Dhyan Chand last October but nothing was announced post that. Guess that prompted the legend's son Ashok Kumar to meet the director asking the same!
According to a daily, Chand's son Ashok Kumar was spoken to three year back for the film but nothing happened thereafter. He wants the film to begin as soon as possible. The last time he spoke to the people at Dharma, he was told the budget is in place but the cast was yet to be finalised. Tired of the wait, Kumar now wants to meet Karan on August 29 which marks Chand's birthday and seek an explanation. Pooja and Aarti Shetty, who is working on the project with Karan Johar told the daily that the script has been locked but more information will be given when the time is right.
There were rumours that Shah Rukh Khan was approached for the biopic but the actor refuted it.
Well, we hope for Dhyan Chand's sake that his story gets its due on the celluloid. Meanwhile, you can tell us if you would like to see a biopic on Dhyan Chand by voting below.
