TV shows are one of the most effective forms of communication as they have such a good reach. They have the rural market and even the urban audience hooked and it is only natural that their strength be used for the greater good rather than just for entertainment. Keeping this thought in mind, the makers of Ishqbaaaz have taken up quite a few causes in the past. And now, they have supported the worldwide #Metoo movement with their latest episode. In fact, they should be applauded for adapting the concept to suit the Indian taste and further its reach by renaming it as the #Meresaathbhi movement. The Me Too movement, that gained traction after the infamous Harvey Weinstein scandal, is not just a hashtag. It is a movement that calls all women to share their experiences of being sexually harassed. Considering how the movement, that started against a particular filmmaker, spread around the world like wildfire speaks volumes on how rampant is sexual harassment around the world. Making it a part of a show's narrative is indeed applause worthy. For it not only increases the movement's reach, it also urges women, who are otherwise not aware of such a revolution, come out in the open and speak about their harrowing experiences. It is very important to tell the victim that they aren't the wrong ones and that it is absolutely necessary to speak up against the perpetrator. Check out the scene from Ishqbaaaz right here:
The track reveals how Shrenu Parekh aka Gauri will get molested by Abhimanyu (Karanuday Jenjani). While Anika (Surbhi Chandna), Bhavya (Mansi Srivastava) will avenge this molestation by the sting operation, the actress also took to Instagram, to share her real life molestation incident with everyone. She shared a video with the post where she revealed how she was inappropriately touched by an uncle at an early age of 6. While we fear about opening up, she asked everyone to get over it and share their own share of stories and raise their voice. Ishqbaaaz’s recent track inspired her to speak her heart out.
