Janhvi and Ishaan's Dhadak is all set to beat the lifetime business of Student of the Year

Dhadak has turned out to be a profitable venture for Dharma Productions and Zee Studios. The movie, featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter in lead roles, is the official remake of the Marathi film, Sairat. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the emotional romantic drama has impressed critics and audience alike. The movie released on July 20. As it clocks in 14 days, it stands at a grand total of Rs 69.16 crore. The movie minted Rs 51.55 crore in week 1 and Rs 17.61 crore in week 2. BTW, only after two weeks, the Dhadak is all set to beat lifetime collections of Dharma Productions Student of the Year. Student of the Year was 2012's Dhadak. It was also the dream debut of two-star kids, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, and for the same reason, there was extreme hype for the movie. It was directed by Dharmahead-honcho Karan Johar himself. The teen drama did a moderate business at the box office and was able to collect Rs 70 crore in total. Dhadak is already at Rs 69.16 crore. So you know, after today's collection it would have beaten SOTY. And just to remind you, a sequel to Student of the Year is already in works. Student of the Year 2 will release later this year. Tiger Shroff stars as the male lead in the film. Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday will be making their debut with the film. Praising Ishaan Khatter in Dhadak, BollywoodLife's Editor-in-Chief wrote in his review of the film, "ISshaan Khatter is a star. He’s here to stay! There are no two views about how good he is in Dhadak. Yes he is Shahid Kapur’s brother, but he is so much more than that. Ishaan is one of the biggest reasons why Dhadak works. He makes Madhu so believable. His looks and his body language are utterly convincing. He speaks through his eyes and little gestures. Even though he made his debut with Beyond the Clouds, Dhadak taps into his potential and uses it well."
