Chennai didn't see it coming. No one would have expected that one of the five biggest metropolitan cities of India will turn into an island of sorts.
Incessant rains and severe floods have brought Chennai to stand still. With millions of Chennaites stranded without food, water and electricity, few groups of brave volunteers along with Indian army has been the ray of hope for relief seeking citizens. While the Tamil film industry is doing everything in their power to help the people of Chennai, State governments lack of support has been severely condemned by social media activists.
Now, CM Jayalalithaa and her party AIADMK find themselves in the eye of the storm, after a rather insensitive banner was put up in Tirunelveli. The banner taking reference from SS Rajamouli's Baahubali, depicts CM Jayalalithaa holding the baby over water (Chennai floods) like the way Ramya Krishnan's character Sivagami did in the film.
This rather disgusting piece of publicity has got everyone angry as people claim that Amma's goverment isn't helping but is busy doing cheap politics. Meanwhile, Jayalalitha aka Amma's stickers are forcibly pasted on relief food packets, making everyone question how low can one stoop. Looks like Amma might have to pay the price for her insensitive publicity during devastating Chennai floods.
