Shahid was seen as a judge on Jhalak Reloaded, but was he any good? I think not and here are 5 reasons why!
Before Shahid Kapoor came on board for Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded, viewers were extremely excited. This was the first time a sensation such as Shahid, was being roped in for the show. The actor had already become the hot topic in town post his Haider success and later his much talked about marriage to Mira Rajput. Hence, him coming on board for Jhalak, meant some serious popularity for the show. I too was looking forward to Shahid's entry in the show as a judge. Initially, I liked him the best from the likes of Karan Johar, Ganesh Hegde and Lauren Gottlieb. But as the show progressed, I felt that Sasha is completely losing his game as a judge and ruining it all. Here are 5 reasons why I think so:
# Too much Matargasti, spoils the show
It was nice to see Sasha in his goofy element once in a while. One's quirkiness provides fodder for entertainment and Sasha did just that with his antics. But when the same tends to go overboard, one loses interest and the same happened with me. I initially enjoyed Sasha ragging Kjo, and being a general source of entertainment for the contestants as well as viewers. But soon, his judging stint was limited to that and it was almost like Sasha was an entertainer and not a critique. All play and no work too, can make judges dull.
# Jack of all trades, master of none
Where Sasha initially began as a judge of Jhalak, he soon became an entertainer, a co-host, etc, all at once. Basically, Sasha was seen doing too many things at once, to the point, where it seemed like he was stealing host Manish Paul's thunder! It was Manish's job to entertain and Sasha's to critique. But soon the Shaandaar actor took over everything and was everywhere, which became a bit too much to take for me.
# When critiquing took a back seat
The purpose of critiquing is lost, when a judge tends to like everything that the contestant does. The same happened in Sasha's case. Though the actor pin pointed a few faults in the contestant's performance here and there, overall, he had nice things to say about every performance, which just didn't fit. With a brilliant dancer like Sasha on board, who has the technical knowledge of dance, I was expecting him to bring the same to the judging panel. Instead, Sasha smiled and clapped happily for almost every act. If every performance has to be appreciated, then what are the contestants slogging so hard for? That way, I think Lauren and Ganesh did a much better job with their critiquing.
# Standing out but not outstanding
Where Kjo, Lauren and Ganesh were all seated at the judging panel, I don't get why Sasha chose to single himself out and sit on a chair. It was almost like Sasha wasn't with the co-judges. He chose to stand out but his stint wasn't out-standing, I'm afraid.
# More flaunting, less judging
Even though Sasha failed to give his expert opinion on most of the acts, he never let go off an opportunity to flaunt his dance skills. It's a given that with a brilliant dancer like Sasha on board, he would be asked to shake it off every now and then. But the same would have been more impactful has Sasha taken his critiquing seriously. Ganesh Hegde too danced a lot on this show, but I don't hold a similar opinion regarding him.
There was so much hype regarding Shahid's association with Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded. Unfortunately, Sasha failed to be a 'Shaandaar' judge.
