From a complete non-dancer to earning the immunity ball from the judges, Mohit Malik's transformation on JDJ Reloaded has pleasantly surprised his family members and friends. The person who has closely watched his transition is his wife, Addite Shirwaikar, who is there in every episode cheering for her hubby. BollywoodLife got chatty with her.
Mohit and Addite have been married for five years now. They met on the sets of the show Banoo Main Teri Dulhan. "We are extremely thrilled. The mood at home is a happy one. Mohit's brother, niece and nephew had come down from Delhi to view the show. It is really a huge achievement for him. From being a non-dancer to making it up there with Faisal Khan, Sanaya Irani and Shamita Shetty was something we would never have dreamt of." The handsome hunk practised from the afternoon to late hours in the night. The journey in JDJ has been nothing less than a fight for Mohit, who had to adjust to three different choreographers so far. "It was no cakewalk adapting to three different partners in a show," she says.
Addite also revealed that Mohit will be dancing to the Ranveer Singh number Thug Le from Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl and do a piece with choreographer Ganesh Hegde as well for the finale. Going down memory lane, Addite says, "He used to be a bad dancer. Even in shows, Mohit did limited steps and more of it was just about posing (laughs). He has a stiff body. In the last four months, he has made me proud." So, will Addite ask Mohit for a romantic waltz after the show? "Hahaha... I might. But he has never been the sort to dance with me at a candlelight dinner. He is an introvert, too shy for that kind of stuff. But let's see, he might do it for me."
After all the grind of rehearsals and back-breaking moves, Addite knows that Mohit needs a break and has a treat for him. "I am planning a vacation for us. He really needs a break. I am thinking of taking him to Europe, which is his favourite holiday destination. He loves the mountains. I have something special in mind for him," she discloses. Recently, we saw Gautam Gulati and Mohit in a performance where the two hunks performed shirtless. The sight of Mohit's toned torso got him quite a few comments, including ones from Malaika Arora Khan and Lauren Gottlieb. "I am not jealous. I am proud that my husband looks so hot. Even I thought he was sexy on that show," says she. Like Mohit, even Addite is aware that the competition is pretty tough. He husband is up against Sanaya, who is immensely popular, the graceful Shamita and scintillating Faisal, who has already won a dance reality show. After weeks of slogging it out, Mohit is a happy man. "I remember he was very disappointed the day he forgot a step. He told me that he will do better the following week. Mohit lived upto it and got the immunity ball. Jhalak has made him a more positive person. He is a better human being now," she signs off.
