For the first time veteran director Sathyan Anthikad is working with the young heart throb Dulquer Salmaan in Jomonte Suvisheshangal. Sathyan Anthikad has delivered many hits with Dulquer's father, Mammootty, with movies like Kanukettu, Golantharavarthakal etc. The movie is about the relationship between a father and a son. Jomon, played by Dulquer Salmaan, is the youngest son of millionaire Vincent (Mukesh). That makes him the most pampered of the lot, as well as the irresponsible. He is so irresponsible that he even missed his sister's wedding because he was caught drunk driving. His other siblings are well established but Jomon is still having trouble even completing his MBA. His father on the other hand is so business-minded that he will do a property deal even at a funeral. However Vincent and Jomon's relationship is more like brothers rather than a father-son bond. But how long will Vincent continue to bear Jomon's carefree attitude? Also read: 5 reasons why you should not miss Dulquer Salmaan's Jomonte Suvisheshangal
The first half of Jomonte Suvisheshangal has some pleasant moments, as well as scenes that pander to Dulquer's charming personality and his burgeoning female fanbase. However, like Sathyan Anthikad's movies of late, Jomonte Suvisheshangal takes some time to get to the point. The humour is alright, but what interests us the most is the dynamic between the ever-dependable Mukesh and Dulquer Salmaan. But I can't help the feeling that the movie looks like an updated version of Sathyan Anthikad's Veendum Chila Veetukaryangal. Anupama Parmeswaran is alright as the heroine, as the movie doesn't give her much scope till now. Also she looks too young starring opposite Dulquer Salmaan. Let's hope the second half moves beyond Sathyan Anthikad's usual narrative device. The music is just passable.
