A slow starter this one will grow on you…
Yami Gautam and Pulkit Samrat are drenched in the first flush of love in Junooniyat’s Ishqe Di Lat Tadpave. The song has been crooned by Ankit Tiwari and Tulsi Kumar. The singer has also composed the track while Manoj Muntashir has written the lyrics.
The number starts off like all romantic songs, softly before the tempo builds up. The symphony is Western but they have used bits of Indian orchestration in the background. There is very little originality in the composition and it feels like a mish-mash of recent Ankit Tiwari numbers.
That is not to say that it is bad or not melodious enough. It’s just that it lacks the freshness or zing. The video also gives a very 90s feeling. We don’t know what era the film is set in, but the choreography reminds us of the Maine Pyaar Kiya times. Pulkit’s boyish charm is easy on the eye but we can’t feel likewise for Yami Gautam. At times, she is just over expressive. The quaint backdrop of the army cantonment in the hills make it pleasing for the eyes.
The romantic flavour is understandable considering that it’s an out and out love story. However, we expected something a little different but we guess that is a tall order. With Ankit singing a romantic ballad for every second film, there is a limit to how much he can churn in a given time frame. This is sad because he can do a lot better.
