Vijay's 61st project is one of the most talked about projects down South. After all it's his second film with Atlee. The two had delivered the super hit movie - Theri in 2016, also starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Amy Jackson. While nothing about Vijay 61 has been disclosed so far, one thing that has caught our attention is three female lead cast. Yes, Vijay was to star opposite Kajal Aggarwal, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Jyothika. This news was also confirmed by the team. But in a surprising turn of events, news spread that Jythokia was going to be replaced by Nithya Menen. Reportedly, the 24 actor would be joining the team this week. While speculations have been rife about this replacement, according to a report in Indian Expres, Jyothika herself opted out of the project as she was disappointed with the script. Vijay-Jyothika were last seen in Thirumalai. Their 2000 film - Khushi was a big hit. The two were to reunite after 14 years. Now after hearing the news, fans might be a tad disappointed. However, Nithya Menen herself is a known Talented actress across industries - Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil. She was part of two big hits last year -Suriya's 24 and Jr NTR's Janatha Garage. Before that, she delivered another hit with Dulquer - O Kadhal Kanmani. Moreover this will be a fresh pairing as Vijay-Nithya haven't teamed up before this. Let's see if this debut pair will click with fans. The other two - Kajal and Samantha have worked with him before. In fact, Samantha was part of Atlee's first film - Theri. The team went on floors on Feb 1st. They were to shoot portions of time period from 1980s. After the 10 day shoot, the team will will begin their shoot abroad. Sri Thenandal films is bankrolling this project. It will mark their 100th film.
