It looks the more interesting movies do not arrive with much fanfare. After giving a commendable performance in this year's debacle Rangoon, Saif Ali Khan will return to the big screen with the upcoming black comedy, Kaalakaandi. Directed by Akshat Verma who wrote the black comedy Delhi Belly, Kaalakaandi also looks like a movie that falls in the same genre, with Saif Ali Khan looking to play his craziest role till date in the movie. And he has played a Half Russian Half Dilli gangster in a Go Goa Gone before.
The teaser has come out some time back, and it starts off with a bang with Saif Ali Khan doing some crazy antic in front of a hooker. As the confused woman looks at him bemused, he replies he has no clue why he did that. The teaser then shows a montage of scenes from the movie, with gunshots, parties, pubs, car chases and a bald, sinister looking Deepak Dobriyal. We also get glimpses of the characters Akshay Oberoi and Isha Talwar are playing in the movie. There is a real vibe of Delhi Belly as well as Dev D. And that song being played in the teaser is something you get to hear in an Anurag Kashyap movie.
Here's the teaser...
Talking about the story of the film, DNA quoted a source saying, “Saif’s character discovers that he has cancer and is dying. He lives in denial for a while. Then, with his brother’s wedding coming up, he decides to live life to the fullest, trying out everything he hadn’t so far, including smoking, drinking and tripping on acid.” The dark comedy is the story of six characters from different worlds urban, ambitious Mumbai and its dark, neglected underbelly. Actor Kunal Roy Kapoor who worked in Delhi Belly, will also have an important role in Kaalakaandi, along with Raman Raghav 2.0 debutante Sobhita Dhulipala. The movie had been locked for release on September 8.
