In a recent chat, BollywoodLife asked Shahid how he makes it look so convincing and Shahid revealed that he puts in extra efforts to get the whims right since he doesn't smoke or drink. The actor also credited his directors and said, "I depend on my directors for getting the addiction part right." He even spelt out the difference between Kabir and Tommy Singh from Udta Punjab and stated, "Udta Punjab was about the problem of addiction (drug abuse). Here it happens to be how he reacts to heartbreak and to the fact that he is in the self-destructive mode. I don’t want to draw any parallels but he is a complex character, it’s kind of like a very disruptive version of say how the journey of Devdas was."
