Its friendship day today and we decided to walk down memory lane and talk about shows that have taught us a lot about friendship and what’s the cardinal rule of being true friend. Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan: The concept of five close friends and their varied issues is the base of this show. Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan in the recent times is the perfect show which is all about friends and their everyday issues. It’s current and the youth of the country follow this show ardently; not only because it’s about friendship but because it is socially relevant and sometimes very thought provoking.
Woh: It’s a thriller show about seven friends who encounter someone who kidnaps children in the town of Panchgani. They promise to come back to town if “WOH” ever returned. 15 years later Ashutosh Rana calls them back because he starts feeling the presence of the notorious kidnapper and killer. The show tests their bond of friendship in these difficult times.
Hello Friends: Production houses all over the world have tried to remake the original FRIENDS, but no one has ever managed to even come close. In India, the desi version of FRIENDS was called Hello Friends, which had popular DJs of MTV playing the characters of Ross, Chandler, Pheobe, Joel, Rachel and Monica. Unfortunately, the show received a lot of flak and was forced to go off air.
Hip Hip Hurray: Till date it is one the best youth based shows in the country. Of course it has been over a decade since the show went on air and went off air after 60 episodes. The entire series is available on YouTube and we personally know of people who still watch the series. Hip Hip Hurray was a cult show that depicted the lives of XII standard class students. Every episode had a lesson big or trivial they definitely taught the young generation on all the issues they usually face and about true friendship.
Remix: This show on Star One became very popular among youngsters for the latest trends, youth lingo and the bonds of friendship it created. People started following the fundas of the show, whether it taught anyone any lessons in friendship or not is still a mystery. The show did have a hand in promotion friendship.
Dil Dosti Dance: It was about dance and love but friendship played the core part in the show. In the competitive world we live in, maintaining friendships is extremely difficult and an uphill task. How this group kept dance and friendship intact along with the tadka of love in between.
