It was only yesterday Bollywoodlife broke it to you that Karan Johar's long awaited Shiddat has a new title. It will now be called Kalank. It is now offical that the much talked about film will be called Kalank. It is a touted to be an epic drama set in the 1940s. This story was thought of 15 years ago and it is finally seeing the light of day. The film boasts of a promising cast - Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur. It will be helmed by Abhishek Varman, who last directed 2 states.
"KALANK has been an emotional journey for me! A germ of an idea that I had nearly 15 years ago...a film that was in a pre production stage helmed by my father...am now proud to Pass it onto the extremely capable and visionary hands of our director Abhishek Varman! A beautifully structured story by Shibani Bathija and an exceptionally fluid narrative and screenplay by Abhishek." says Karan Johar confirming the titled and announcement. The film has locked in on its release date - 19th April, 2019. The film will mark the collaboration of Fox Star Studios, Dharma Productions and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. Interestingly, on 18th April, 2014, 2 states had begun their journey. Three years later, a magnum opus begins its journey under the direction of Abhishek Varman. With its eclectic cast and talented director on board, Kalank is a film to watch out for!
Kalank, previously known as Shiddat has been in talks for the longest time now. The film that had been put on the backburner has now revived itself with an incredible ensemble and director. We are super excited as Sanjay Dutt and Madhrui Dixit reunite after delivering several hits in the 80s and 90s. The film will also mark Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan's fourth collaboration. Each of their films have gone on to be super hits. We bet the Varia fans can't wait!
