4 days after Jayalithaa's demise, Gautami, Kamal Haasan's ex has taken to her blog to question the alleged secrecy around Jayalalithaa's death. It was on September 22, Jayalalithaa was admitted to the hospital for vomiting and fever, but it turned out to be a lung infection. In the last week fo November, the chairman of the Apollo hospital had gone to mention that her condition was returning to normalcy but on Sunday, 4th December she suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and was rushed to hospital. She also underwent a surgery but her condition remained critical. On 5th december at 11:30 pm she eventually succumbed to her ailment. During this 75 day period, any information around the the Late Chief MInister's death was under wraps. The public was only given updates by the Hospital Here's what the actress had to say - " “Nobody had been allowed access to her and many dignitaries who visited her with deep concern were denied an opportunity to convey their wishes in person. Why this secrecy and isolation of a beloved public leader and the head of the Tamil Nadu government? What/whose authority restricted access to the late Chief Minister? Who were the concerned persons who were making the decisions about Selvi Dr. J Jayalalithaa ji’s treatment and care when her health was apparently in such a delicate state? And who is responsible for these answers to the people?” Keeping this mind, Gautami has requested PM Modi to probe into the matter. Also Read: Sri Devi shares a special memory about jayalalithaa
She believes, the public deserves to be informed about their political leaders. “I ask these questions now because it is a primary concern and right of every citizen of India to be aware of and informed about their democratically elected leaders. To be aware of their state of health and ability to perform their duties for the larger good of the people. To be concerned for the wellness and comfort of a beloved leader of the masses. And the fact that a tragedy of such tremendous scale should not go unquestioned and definitely, not unanswered, under any circumstances.” she further wrote.
Celebs across industries mourned her death. Right from Shah Rukh Khan to Amitabh Bachchan to Rajinikanth, Ajith Kumar Dhanush Vijay, Siva Karthikeyan paid homage to this iconic leader. She was buried in a sandalwood casket next to MGR's memorial on 6th December.
