We told you a few days back why Deepika Padukone didn't want to be part of Majid Majidi's film Beyond The Clouds which stars Shahid Kapoor's brother Ishaan. According to reports, she said no to the project because the role offered to her wasn't meaty enough. So she politely let it known to the makers. Before that we also heard how Kangana had rejected the film. Now we know why. Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, the Rangoon actress informed that she didn't want to do a 'submissive' role. It is the brother-sister story that made her lose interest in it. Why? Kangana said, "And the brother is the one doing all the fighting. Since I'm jumping straight into Ketan Mehta's Jhansi Ki Rani, who was an iconic heroine, why would I want to take on such a submissive role?" As per reports in Mid-day, the actress met up with the director to discuss the project but Kangana eventually opted out as she felt the sister’s role wasn’t powerful enough. She had reportedly suggested that the script be reworked to make her role more prominent but the filmmaker refused to give in.
Guess Deepika too had similar concerns. According to reports, Deepika Padukone as a respect to the director did the look test of the film. However even when she was doing the look test she had made it clear that she would say yes to the film only once she had heard or read the final draft of the script. Unfortunately, Deepika Padukone didn’t like what she heard as the final draft. It’s not something she was looking at this stage of her career. So respectfully she decided not to be part of the project. Clearly, Kangana's reason resonated with Deepika. We wonder if the two will appreciate this similar thought process. Just wondering...
