In 2013, we saw four prominent directors - Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap coming together for an experimental anthology film titled 'Bombay Talkies' to celebrate the 100 years of Indian cinema. Now the quartet is set to come back again for the same kind of film which might be called Bombay Talkies 2. Apparently, Karan Johar has signed Vicky Kaushal in his short film for that anthology. While Karan's last short film for Bombay Talkies, dealt with marital discord and homosexuality, his upcoming short movie will explore the comedy genre.
As per reliable sources, "The series will be an out-and-out comedy, where Karan will unleash his creativity. Karan approached Vicky after seeing the rushes of Raazi. After giving a screen test, Vicky was selected to play the main lead. The final paperwork is to take place next week." With this short film, Vicky Kaushal now has five projects in his kitty including, Raju Hirani's Dutt biopic, Meghna Gulzar's Raazi, Ronnie Screwvala's Love Per Square Feet and a film on the Uri surgical strike.
On the other hand, Karan Johar has already announced some of his biggest production ventures, which are Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Brahmastra, Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra's Kesari and Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez's Drive.
The other directors of the anthology are yet to finalise the cast for their short film. Like Bombay Talkies, the sequel will be produced by Ashi Dua and presented by Ronnie Screwvala. The film might go on floors next year.
