The actor says the media stampede unnerved him
Divyanka Tripathi and Vivek Dahiya’s wedding was one of the high points of 2016. However, the media reports of Karan Patel playing spoilsport at the gala reception held in Mumbai was a dampener. However a source close to the actor says that Karan Patel and Ankita Bhargava reached the venue and even before they could get off the car, the media crowded them for a byte. The Yeh Hai Mohabbatein actor requested them to make way for the couple to get off the car but no one heeded his words. Later, they walked into the venue and media followed them. They were getting too close and almost falling on the couple. It seems that Karan got a little hysterical then and grabbed Ankita’s hand and moved away.
In a statement, the actor said, “To begin with, my reception was not in the same venue at Divyanka’s. It is just sad that one’s attitude is speculated even when you have done nothing. The media was breathing down your neck and I requested them to give a little space and bytes would be given to all. I got unnerved when I realized that it was a stampede like situation. Scared, that anyone would get hurt I walked away. I have no explanation to offer nor do I want to consider explaining myself beyond this. I have always loved and respected the media but surrounding us and giving no space to move is difficult especially when you are out with your family. My life is an open book and you’re free to speculate. I will offer explanations when needed and pass off what is unnecessary. It was Divyanka and Vivek’s reception. It was a lovely evening where we all got together. I enjoyed myself and so did all the guests. My family and I wish DiVek a very happy married life.”
