While Manish Paul, Sushant Singh Rajput and others have made a successful Bollywood debut, we take a look at other TV actors, who are all set to follow the suit
The glitz and glamour of TV may be far less dazzling than that of Bollywood, but for some actors, TV acts as the perfect medium to jump into the movies. Shah Rukh Khan and Vidya Balan are the ultimate examples. Taking a cue from these superstars, many youngsters have made the big switch from television to the big, bad world of Bollywood.
So while we know about the tales of Sushant Singh Rajput, Manish Paul, Ayushmann Khurrana and many others, here's taking a look at the new wave of TV stars to join Bollywood.
TV character: Bitoo Sharma
Filmy launch: Bank Chor (to be released soon)
We think: The man, who changed the face of Indian television with his show, Comedy Nights with Kapil is making his big Bollywood debut with YRF's upcoming film, Bank Chor. And considering this funny man has won fans from 8 to 80, we won't be surprised if he makes it big in Bollywood as well.
TV character: Charu Sinha (Kahiin Toh Hoga), Kasak Bajaj (Kasautii Zindagii Kay), Kaajjal Behl (Kaajjal)
Filmy launch: Hate Story 2 (to be released soon)
We think: Surveen first came into the limelight when she played the role of Kasak Bajaj in Ekta Kapoor's hit daily soap, Kasautii Zindagii Kay. And now she is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Hate Story 2. After watching the trailer of the film, all we can say is that Surveen is the new sex bomb of Bollywood. And we are sure, you will agree on that one. With her bold and sensual avatar, she has been creating waves and...how!
TV character: Varun Bhaskar (Dhoom Machao Dhoom), Neev Shergill (Kayamath), Yuvraaj (Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil), Yash Malhotra/Aditya (Geet - Hui Sabse Parayi), Anuj Shrivastav (Kairee...Rishta Khatta Meetha)
Filmy launch: Hate Story 2 (to be released soon)
We think: With his chocolate boy looks, he made the girls fall in love with him, when he played Neev in Ekta Kapoor's Kayamath. Then he showed his other side to the masses, when he started hosting Zee TV's Dance India Dance. And now he will be seen romancing Surveen Chawla in the upcoming film, Hate Story 2. And this time, he isn't a chocolate boy because he is all set to set the 70mm on fire with his sex appeal. Nuff said!
TV character: Lord Ram/Lord Vishnu (Ramayan), Maan Singh Khurana (Geet - Hui Sabse Parayi), Yash Suraj Pratap Sindhia (Punar Vivah)
Filmy launch: Khamoshiyaan (to be released soon)
We think: He is undoubtedly one of the most handsome hunks of television. After delivering some stellar performances in daily soaps, Gurmeet is taking a bigger step. The actor will soon be seen in a Bollywood movie to be produced by Mahesh Bhatt. So will he have a successful innings in Bollywood as well? Yes, if you ask us. What say you?
Karan Singh Grover
TV character: Arnav Deol (Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi), Aman (Princess Dollie Aur Uska Magic Bag), Sharad Gupta (Kasautii Zindagii Kay), Abhimanyu (Solhah Singaarr), Dr. Armaan Malik (Dill Mill Gayye), Prof. Karan Malik (Dil Dosti Dance), Raghu (Teri Meri Love Stories), Asad Ahmed Khan (Qubool Hai)
Filmy launch: Alone (to be released soon)
We think: He won millions of female fans when he played Dr Armaan Malik in Dill Mill Gayye. Then this number increased to trillions when he portrayed the character of Asad Ahmed Khan in Qubool Hai. And now he is making his filmi debut with Bipasha Basu in the upcoming horror love story titled Alone. Frankly, we don't know if this TV hottie will have a successful debut. We know the fate of Bollywood horror movies. But then as they say, never judge a book by its cover. So you never know.
TV character: Ranveer Sisodia (Remix), Rajveer Malhotra (Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari), Dr. Siddhant (Dill Mill Gayye), Ranbir Malhotra (Baat Hamari Pakki Hai), Rohan (Kuch Toh Log Kahenge)
Filmy launch: Daawat-e-Ishq (to be released soon)
We think: Karan rose to fame after playing popular characters in famous shows like Remix, Dill Mill Gayye and many more will soon be seen shining on the big screen along with Parineeti Chopra, Aditya Roy Kapur and Anupam Kher in the upcoming film, Daawat-e-Ishq. And there is very little know about his role in the film. All we can do at the moment is wait and watch.
TV character: Shivraj Shekhar (Balika Vadhu)
Filmy launch: Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (to be released on July 11)
We think: Siddharth first came into the spotlight when he played the character of Shiv in Balika Vadhu. Ever since then mothers have been dreaming of a devoted son like him. And fathers have been wanting a groom like him for their daughters. He then went on to participate in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa which acted as his launchpad to the movies. He was spotted by Karan Johar, who was one of the judges on the show and gave him a break in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, which also stars Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. The film will hit the theatres on July 11. And looking at the trailer, we think Siddharth will go a long way in Bollywood.
