Salman Khan's much-awaited film Bharat has been creating buzz thanks to all the posters, teasers and trailer of the Ali Abbas Zafar directorial becoming a hit among fans. Salman's different looks from the film are mind-blowing and Katrina Kaif's permed hair is making her look 10 times more gorgeous than ever before. And while all that is making our wait for the film more and more difficult, it seems like just yesterday when news of Priyanka Chopra having been signed opposite Salman Khan hit us. But just when fans of both the superstars started getting excited about their pairing, PeeCee's whirlwind wedding came up and the global star had to back out of the movie.
That is when Katrina Kaif was taken on and we are now super glad she did. While we have no doubts about Priyanka's excellent acting skills, Katrina's glimpse in the trailer looks promising and we are sure she has slayed it in the film. Earlier, Salman had revealed that Katrina had been his co-producer for Bharat, Atul Agnihotri's first choice. But when PeeCee personally asked Ali to take her on, no one could say 'No' to her. However, Katrina had never commented on this casting until recently.
In a recent interview with Mumbai Mirror, Katrina has finally opened up about the same saying, "Atul has always been very supportive and really wanted me to do the film. And in the end, that’s what happened. Yes, Salman and I share great chemistry, but when I walked onto this set, I was very clear that the script demanded a different kind of dynamics between us and I had to maintain it."
Katrina further revealed, "So, I would not have lunch or hang out with him. It's different with an action film like Tiger (Ek Tha Tiger and Tiger Zinda Hai) where you can chat and chill. But here, I wanted Bharat and Kumud to appear like two people meeting for the first time and forging a connection. I hope you see that in the film."
And despite being the first choice for Bharat, Kat was just too glad she did the film. In another interview, Katrina had said, "Although I wasn't Ali's first choice and it was Priyanka (Chopra), I'm happy it has come to me. When I read the character of Kumud, I felt there's so much I can do in it and I wanted to immerse myself completely into it. I just hope that I keep getting to play such exciting characters which have enough meat in them."
And we so agree with it as she has proved with just one dialogue from Bharat that her character cannot be taken lightly in this one. Bharat features Salman, Jackie Shroff, Nora Fatehi, Disha Patani, Tabu and Sonali Kulkarni in key roles. The film depicts the history of India through the life of an ordinary man. Salman will sport five different looks in the film which is the remake of Korean film, An Ode To My Father. Jointly produced by Atul Agnihotri and Bhushan Kumar, Bharat releases this Eid (June 5).
