Kelvin Cheung the former star chef of Bastian has found a mention in the Insta account of most Bollywood celebs from Ananya Panday to Janhvi Kapoor. It seems he has been arrested by the Mumbai Police for alleged financial fraud. This was reported by Pinkvilla. A source said that Mumbai Police brought Kelvin Cheung from Delhi to Mumbai by train. He was taken to the Khar Police Station and later shifted to the Taloja Jail. It seems the complaint was filed by Ranjit Bindra. Pinkvilla reported that on December 4, 2020 the Khar cops filed an FIR against Kelvin Cheung and his father, Chi Ping Cheung under sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code.
Ranjit Bindra is the co-owner of the popular seafood restaurant in Bandra, Bastian. It seems Kelvin Cheung took USD 200,000 from him saying he would invest it abroad. It seems Kelvin Cheung was working with Bindra for many years. He told Bindra that he would invest his money in popular restaurant franchises in Chicago and the Los Angeles with the help of his father. Kelvin Cheung is raised in Canada. In 2015, Bindra put in money to the tune of USD 200, 000.
But Kelvin left Bastian last year after the demise of his father. Post that, he began to ignore Bindra's calls about the money. This led to him filing the complaint against the star chef. Cheung went back to the States in 2019. But it seems he returned to India within six months. He started work in Delhi. When Bindra came to know that he had returned, he hoped to get his money. He lodged a formal complaint and based on it, Kelvin Cheung was arrested. Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra also have stakes in Bastian.
